About Dance Academy of Mansfield
The
Dance Academy is dedicated to providing excellence in dance education.
The Academy was founded by Christie Garrett in 1999. Students,
regardless of age or ability, have an opportunity to work with dance
professionals who share a passion for the Lord, and who teach others
with love and understanding of children. Our staff is highly
trained and educated in all aspects of dance. All have extensive
experience in structured class instruction and is trained by Christie
Garrett in the vision unique to Dance Academy of Mansfield. We stay
current with the innovative dance trends without compromising our
integrity. The Academy excels in patience, caring, and creative
teaching skills. Proper Technique is stressed in all classes. Students
are required to take ballet as it is the foundation they need in order
to excel and advance in their dancing. Christie Garrett, Owner, Artistic Director, Instructor Ms.
Christie has over 20 years experience in dance training, teaching and
performing. She began her dance training with Dyche Yzer School of
Ballet, Margo Marshall School of Ballet in Houston and continued
through her teen years to train with the Austin Ballet. She became a
performing member of the Metropolitan Ballet Company and Civic Ballet
of Abilene Texas during her high school years. Upon graduating
high school, she went on to Los Angeles and was awarded a full time
Dance Scholarship by the famous Joe Tremaine. She also studied Modern
and Jazz with Doug Caldwell, Jackie Sleight and other renowned teachers
and choreographers from the Dupree Dance Center in Los Angeles. She
went on to be a member of The Modern Repertory Dance Company Of Los
Angeles. She toured the east coast and performed in Madison Suare
Gardens with The children's musical "The Magic Camera." She would go on
to perform in numerous stage productions and musicals through out her
performing career. She moved back to the Metroplex and began
teaching for a local studio in Arlington. She continued to study dance
with Daine Clough west in Ft. Worth and Mountain View College. She
performed as a dancer in the Southern Palace at Six flags over Texas
and began choreographing musical productions for Walnut Ridge Baptist
Church, and Performing Arts Studio in Mansfield. She also choreographed
and danced as a principle for several SAG television commercials for
Garden Ridge. She has been married for 21 years and is a proud parent of three boys.
